Your views are important to us

By listening to the views and opinions of you, the public, NHS North East Essex is able to improve local health services. Patient feedback means we are better informed and we can use this information to understand the requirements of our local population which influences decisions when introducing new services or improving existing ones.

Simple access to see your doctor remains a key national and local priority and the Department of Health have laid out expectations on how easy it should be for you to make an appointment with your doctor. NHS North East Essex is determined to improve patient access and to ensure services are consistent, efficient and responsive to meet your needs and expectations.

To assist us in this endeavour we have taken five questions from the GP Patient Survey - this is a national survey that is issued randomly to patients in the United Kingdom. The survey was designed to measure how well practices are performing, to identify areas where improvement is needed and provide patients with an opportunity to have their say.

The five questions relate to getting through on the telephone, making an appointment, seeing a specific GP and satisfaction with opening hours. The answers are multiple choice and simple to complete. You are asked to identify your practice but all other information provided remains anonymous.

You are not limited to how many times you complete the questionnaire and if you wish to complete it after each GP attendance you can - all the information you provide goes to indicating the experience you have at your surgery.

We will review and analyse the results of the survey and use the information as a basis for discussion with each GP surgery to enable them to make improvements identified as necessary by you - their patient. The results of the survey will also be shared in the future with you both here, on our website, and in the local press.
